She would knock at the door… “Yes?” I replied. Silence. A few minutes later, she would knock again, “Yes?” Silence.
She would knock at the door… “Yes?” I replied. Silence. A few minutes later, she would knock again, “Yes?” Silence.
The difference now was that she knew how to cover her tracks…
either she would want me again, or if she didn’t, I would have a means of survival.
The answer cut me so deep. “Yes, in a heartbeat.”
When I didn’t have money for taxis, I would strip old appliances and sell the scrap to get a bit of cash so that I could continue.
I needed a hug. I needed love. But she pushed me away and walked off down the corridor.
…we had just fallen pregnant with our first child. I needed to think about my future, our future.
I realised, that I had not married for love in the natural sense…
“The future is not written yet.” she said, “Only the past is set in stone. Come sit with me, and tell me your story.”
The book has always been very difficult for me to work on, and it has been nearly ten years I have been working on it, not sharing my notes with anyone. So when you read it here, it will be the first time I shared it with the world.
